I'm thankful to whoever introduced me to this game. It's great to find a game where situations can change at the bat of an eye. Everyone I've introduced the game to loves it as much as I do. It's become a staple in our household.

Settlers is great! Seafarers is even better! But by adding 5 or six players you end up with long waits between your turns especially if dealing with players like myself who very much try to manipulate trading until it is favourable. Might be better if played with a timer to limit haggling, but I haven't tried it yet.

8 "Very solid expansion" by Chris Pieters

It is so nice to own a great game, and then have flexibility for the # of players! That is precisely what you get with this, plus some minor tweaks to the rules.

I've found that it DOES tend to add some time to the play & setup, but not a lot. 3-4 player takes about 75-90 minutes, for me; 5-6 player is usually 90 minutes, but up to 2 1/4 hours. The rule tweak that allows everyone a chance to play between others' turns, but without the benefit of maritime trading, helps to keep the game moving.

The more people the better it really adds to the drama of the game.

9.5 "Expanded entertainment and time" by Marcia A.

Playing the Settlers of Catan with six people was great, however the estimated time of play "1-2" hours is completely inaccurate(having recently played 6 games over the course of 2 days, each lasted a minimum of 3 hours). It was worth it though and I would recommend the expansion set.
